As they say, all good things come to an end. While there is nothing good/positive about Coronavirus, however this website
indeed came into fruition as a result of a positive thought.
Initially my whole purpose of setting up this platform was to accumulate data and run various Machine Learning related
algorithms on it so that I could make sense of the pattern of Coronavirus infection curve in Pakistan.
I made it live not having any idea that any one would know about it and visit it.
All hell broke loose when I
reported first death of coronavirus in Pakistan. The ARY Headline really deceived me that day. It was then I found out that the website
had already gone viral and thousands of people were accessing whatever information I was uploading. Updating that first death
really sent thousands of Pakistanis into hysteria and Twitter was full of screenshots of this website. Some people thought
it was an official website and some thought otherwise. There were even those who termed it something illegal and were on the
hunt to find out the rogue person behind this website.
Soon I realized two things, that the ARY News headline was a fake news and second that now I can't update any figure without
authenticating it from multiple credible sources. And, I also realised that people needed such a platform where they can easily get
Covid related figures about Pakistan because no govt platform existed at the time and after a month or so when the govt website was launched,
they woudn't keep it updated in a timely manner.
This is how this website came along and since March, and I have been regularly keeping it up to date. On one hand it was a huge responsibility
and on the other hand it was eating a lot of my time. Still, I kept doing this job, gladly I might add, because of thousands of people
who visited this website everyday and I somehow felt responsible despite the fact that I have been busy with coding various projects in addition
to my DevOps job for an Australian firm. However, since I couldn't play tennis anymore due to this pandemic, so I thought I would dedicate that time
to doing this good deed.
Now that things are getting back to normal, thanks to Allah Covid is on the down turn (puzzling the world!), and I have started playing tennis again. :D
So in this scenario, with great apology to the dedicated visitors who visit this site every day, I want to resign from this responsibility.
I know it might break the hearts of many of you but I hope you'll understand.
Now to answer the question many of you might have in your minds that who I am? Well, my name is Kashif Ahmad Khan. I am an entheusiastic fan
of everything related to computers and tennis. My twitter handle is @Kashif_A_Khan_
if you want to reach out to me to discuss an idea or anything else, you can send me an email at [email protected]
Once again, thank you all, stay safe, wear a mask, keep a safe distance and don't get reckless. We might have won
this first battle against Coronavirus but the war is still on and whether we win or lose will depend on our conduct going forward. Good bye!
